Building Custom Cabinets For 40 Years

In 2001, a devastating fire destroyed Randy’s workshop, but the Vining family persevered and rebuilt.

Vining’s Custom Cabinets is a family owned and operated business founded by Randy Vining and his family. Randy inherited his appreciation of fine workmanship from his father and grandfather and has been building kitchens and cabinets for over 40 years.  He began building as a hobby during mud season when he was unable to work as a logger.  He turned his attention to building full-time when he decided to “get out of the woods”.  In 2001, a devastating fire destroyed Randy’s workshop, but the Vining family persevered and rebuilt. The fire and decision to rebuild inspired the current brand associated with Vining’s Custom Cabinets – the phoenix.  In ancient folklore, the phoenix was a long-lived bird  consumed by fire, and from the ashes, a new phoenix emerged.

After rising from the ashes, Randy and his wife Deb, incorporated Vining’s Custom Cabinets in 2007.  Their children, Kate and Seth, inherited Randy’s appreciation for quality wood products and fine workmanship.   Over the years, the Vining family has built beautiful custom kitchens from a wide variety of woods, including curly maple, birdseye maple, flame birch, hickory, walnut, alder, and mahogany. They have installed their fine work all across Maine, from Cape Elizabeth to Rangeley.  The crew also travels further abroad on occasion and has completed projects in New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire.
